The mission of HTNP.com is to professionally provide accurate, balanced, reliable, timely and customized news to our readership towns and provide opportunities for our readers to become engaged with their local edition(s).
Editorial Policy
HTNP.com is dedicated to providing local news including political events, community events, and personal interest stories by professionally trained writers and editors who maintain an unbiased and objective point of view and relationship with the businesses, elected officials and reader in their areas.
Our goal is to keep readers informed and engaged, not to pander to sensationalism. We understand the influential role that the media plays in the lives of people and it is our intention to play a positive role. HTNP.com staff recognize the value of presenting balanced and socially responsible news.
At the same time, we welcome dissent and the variety of outlooks that may be represented in reader comments, letters to the editor, our columnists and contributing writers.
Editors and writers, as with all professional journalists, are expected to verify all information with reliable sources.
Editors are expected to provide for a variety of news in their assigned edition(s) including business features; local, and where relevant state and federal government news; school and other community events; arts & entertainment news and features; and information is available, sports news and scores. The business features will be determined by the editor. Press releases also may be submitted by to the editor, to be edited and published at the editor’s discretion. (”Advertorial” material should be forwarded to sales representatives for consideration by the publisher and sales staff.)

Letters to the Editor
HTNP.com welcomes and encourages Letters to the Editor that meet the following guidelines:
· They must address a local issue or the local impact of a state, national or global issue.
· They must include the writer’s name and contact information that will be used to confirm the writer’s identity (including a daytime or evening phone number). HTNP.com will make every reasonable effort to verify the identity of a letter’s writer but cannot be held responsible for misleading or fraudulent information provided in connection with Letters to the Editor.
· Name-calling, profanity or the use of words deemed offensive by the Editor will either be deleted from the letter or will result in the letter being rejected.
· Please make every effort to cite accurate dates, monetary figures or other facts in your letter and to spell names correctly.
· Multiple letters on the same topic by the same author are permissible only if they add new information.
· The Editors reserve the right to edit letters for length.
If you are unsure whether your letter will meet these guidelines, please send an email to the Editor of that edition with your questions. Please allow at least 24 hours for your Letter to the Editor to be posted. HTNP.com assumes no liability for consequences of opinions expressed by letter writers or for typographical or other such errors that may occur when posting a letter online.
